Michaela Freeman has curated exhibitions in the UK and Czech Republic since 1994. Her interest is in the new media practice and multidisciplinary events as well as creating new dialogues and platforms through curating group exhibitions of international artists. She curated exhibitions including 'Jeux D’Amour' (2000, Wigmore Fine Art and Battersea Arts Centre), 'UVA' (Roxy, Prague), 'Dreaming' (2003) and The Post-industrial Landscape (2003, Museum of Fine Art, Prague). She’s curated an exhibition series of young artists at Prague Bar in London in 2007.

In 2008-9, she was co-running Divus Unit 30, a space in Hoxton, Shoreditch where she’s curated several exhibitions. 'Shining' (2008) presented new talents in photography and 'The Underground City' in April 2009 with a programme of accompanying events and screenings which explore the unseen corners, city's undergrowth and urban dream and visions.

The most recent exhibition project PLEASE TOUCH opened at Coexist Gallery at TAP, Southend this June.

She's also one of the curators of a large scale exhibition and events project ARTSIDE - which took place in Southend between 10-23 July 2010 - http://www.artside.org.uk

Michaela Freeman now works as a coordinator of Southend's IDEA13 blog http://www.idea13.org and is curating a series of short film events @ TAP, called LAST FRIDAY SHORTS which will take place every last Friday of the month.
