Since around 2000, Wayne Sleeth has been painting the cathedral of his adopted city in France, Metz.
The project, motivated by the series of paintings by Claude Monet of the cathedral of Rouen, was revealed as the artist reached a 30th painting and was invited by the Bishop of Metz to show the works first at the Bishop's Palace, then for the 800 th anniversary of the cathedral in the cathedral chapel itself.
A heavily-illustrated book, in french and english, was also published in 2021 to chart the depth and breadth of Wayne Sleeth's project, "Les Cathédrales de Metz".
